The Felix’s Pensacola Beach Story

We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of our newest restaurant in Pensacola Beach. Spanning 3 floors and boasting over 25,000 sq ft, Felix’s Pensacola Beach is our largest restaurant to date. The extensive renovation of the former Hemingway’s began in March of last year. From the outset, our goal was to create a truly special setting for Pensacola Beach, one that would showcase exceptional views from 3 different perspectives across 3 levels of the beautiful white sand beach and the clear blue waters of Santa Rosa Sound. Accordingly, we opened up the foyer, main bar area and dining room and replaced the windows over-looking the second-floor veranda with custom-built bi-folding French doors. These doors connect the indoor dining areas with the outdoor space when the doors are open on pretty days. To aid us in the design process, we enlisted the expertise of nationally renowned interior designer, Sam Blount, hailing from New York, as well as the esteemed New Orleans Architect, Lewis Robinson from Studio LR. Completing our team, we welcomed the talented landscape architect, Rene Fransen, and architect Ryan Nugent, who played a vital role in coordinating the lighting scheme and various other planning aspects of the project.

Upon entering, your eyes will be drawn to the oyster bar featuring a classic white marble bar top and a white tile backsplash accented with black trim. The oyster bar is adorned with a Café du Monde-inspired awning, elegantly striped in our iconic Felix’s cream and hunter green. The main bar area features a striking pecky cypress bar with a black marble countertop, complemented by a grand pecky cypress bar-back. The ceiling boasts a back-lit open slat design, incorporating a two-inch recess that exposes an acoustic sound board, effectively mitigating excessive noise. We understand the importance of a pleasant dining atmosphere where conversations can be enjoyed without too much noise.

The main dining room features a custom designed and crafted lattice-style ceiling backed with acoustic-clamping material and offers sweeping views of Santa Rosa Sound. The Veranda, located outside the main bar and main dining room areas, also provides magnificent views and is adorned with a line of gas lanterns overhead. On the Southside of the Veranda, there is a horseshoe-shaped bar, the front side of which is our Sunset Deck area. The Sunset Deck is bounded by an ancient teak root on one side and a soon-to-be-installed water feature on the other side which will remain secret for now.

As mentioned earlier, Felix’s Pensacola Beach spans 3 floors, encompassing over 25,000 square feet, and offers a multitude of unique experiences within the same building. In addition to the various areas on the main level, we have expansive spaces on the first floor known as The Oyster Bed Beach Bar, and on the third floor, we have a Rooftop Bar called Area 3. The name “Area 3” is derived from its location on the third floor as well as being a reference to the state designation of Louisiana’s primary area of oyster beds, the source of our delectable oysters.
